The Romney

Picture
The Romney breed is known for its quiet temperament. Romneys have little herding instinct but do fine in a farm flock. They are known to be somewhat foot rot resistant. The Romney is considered a long wool breed with a fiber that is finer and more lustrous than other long wools. Their fleece does not have the tendency to part down the back, so they do well in rainy climates. Romneys produce an excellent fleece for hand spinning.

Pictured to the left is one of our foundation ewes, Sadie. Below is our other foundation ewe, Fiona, with her ewe lamb, Ellie, of 2009.

Below is our foundation Romney ram, Slick. He is a most comical fellow as he would sit on his rear most of the day.
